Sponsor's gift for student Tanapon

Tanapon had some cash in hand from the last time the sponsor sent money for him, so Suky and Stefan took him out on Saturday to have his treat.

He was delighted, but had asked that rather than go to Underwater World, as had been originally planned, he could go shopping and have KFC. Apparently, in the interim, someone else had taken him.

This child is always so quiet and respectful, and it was something very special for him to be able to choose something for himself with no 'guidance' from grandma or teachers etc.

Student attacked by dog

Today Suky of the Scholarship Team received a call saying that Eakapan on of our scholarship students had been attacked by a dog and needed 100 stitches to the wounds.

Suky went to visit Eakapan and the boy is O.K., although in extreme discomfort.  Not being able to go to school for a while, the teacher has agreed to him sitting his exams late.

The neighbour whose dog savaged Eakapan, has taken full responsibility for everything

Suky will alert Nongprue municipality to the details so that they can follow up in regards to the dog. Apparently, it used to have a muzzle, but It had chewed it off.  It seems that the house is on the way home from school

Home visit to Mathanun

Well this morning's visit to this sweet child was an unmitigated success.

As you can see from the photographs, when he saw the package Suky was carrying, all beautifully wrapped and ribboned, he immediately put on his Santa hat. It was Christmas all over again for him, and he was so excited. Mind you his smile then was nothing like the beam when he saw the contents of the box - Ben 10 and Pooh B ear can do that in an instant!

The house he now lives in is rented by his aunt and her husband who live on the upper floor, and Mathanun and his grandparents live on the ground floor.

They don't pay rent, but from the income they make from selling somtam and Thai spaghetti around the neighbourhood, they pay towards the utilities.

They live in one large room, Mathanun and his grandma sleep on the bed and grandpa sleeps on a single mattress at the side of them. The mattresses are discoloured and old, partly due to the fact that Mathanun still sometimes wets the bed.

Grandpa is blind in one eye, due to a problem after an operation we understand

Fund raising shows at The Venue, Jomtien.

As Treasurer of Pattaya Street Kids’ Support Project I would like to thank on behalf of the charity’s trustees and all of the kids that we are helping in Pattaya; Lady Diamond, Miss Ruby, Ray & Darrell at The Venue Residence in Jomtien and all of the boys and girls at The Venue as well as every member of the audience for the amazing support that they have given to us by performing and supporting the two fund-raising shows at The Venue during the past month.

The shows have raised a total of 93,702Baht which will enable us to continue, feeding, clothing, general welfare, and ensuring that kids we are helping get an education.

Having attended a rehearsal at The Venue I am only to aware of the enormous effort that goes in producing these shows and the generosity of everyone connected with making the shows such a great success  is truly appreciated.

Sponsors's shopping treat for Kritsada

This student's family suffered a robbery last year and are still struggling to get back onto their feet. Kritsada's sponsor decided that the boy needed a special teat and asked us to arrange a trip to the shops for him.

Kritsada's shopping trip went very well and he was thrilled to be able to choose some sharp new clothes - every teenager's dream, right?

During the visit we learned that they had no water, that the water tank was badly in need of repair (as you will see from the photographs) and for which they had no money.  So this morning we bought the materials and gave them enough money for water to be delivered, as the tank needed one day to dry.

Clearly this young man leads a very sheltered life, virtually going nowhere but to school and home again.  Suky said that when they dropped him back opposite the top of the soi after shopping, he had no idea how to get home by motorcycle taxi. They gave him the fare and Boonying showed him how to go over the overpass and find the taxi.
Such a difference to the Muslim boy from the Canhomchuen family.
