http://www.slumkids.org/
To give you an idea as to how money that is donated is used, below are extracts from the background details of five of the new students that we have taken onto the Scholarship scheme for the new school year that started this month.  As you can see all of these kids have suffered terrible hardship in their short lives.
Name:        'A'   Age 6 years
Living Conditions:
Her father and mother are drugs addicts. They abandoned 'A' and her younger  sister  to their grandfather. He is very poor and can't take care of them.

Name: 'B'  Age 5 years
Living Conditions:
The father and mother are together. They collect garbage as their occupation. They have no permanent place to live. They have three 3 children. They took the children to collect garbage with them every night. Sometimes, they were used to beg money from tourists. The children are old enough for school but the parents do not support this. They cannot take care of the children.
Name: 'C'  Age. 5 years.
Living Conditions:
'C's mother's name is 'X'. No information about the whereabouts of his father.  Mother, 'C', and 'C''s brother, 'L' lived with their maternal Grandmother. The grandparents separated. Grandmother 're-married'. Mother and both children  were all abused by the grandmother and step grandfather, who sold the boys for sex to feed Grandmother's alcohol problem. Finally a neighbour sought help for the mother and the boys have been in care since then.

                                               100 Years From Today
It will not matter how big your bank account was, the sort of house you lived in, or the kind of car you drove. But the world may be a little better because your help touched the life of one child.
